To celebrate the expansion of its video production services into Hampshire, From the Hip has created this enlightening map to show exactly where these local places have been featured in some of our favourite films.

With the weather now turning, many of us will be opting for more movie nights on the sofa. The perfect time to challenge yourself and see if you can recognise these now-famous spots.

If you’re feeling more adventurous, why not have your own ‘movie set tour’ through Hampshire and visit as many locations as possible for your own, slightly colder and wetter, LA experience!

However, set dressers are incredibly talented these days and some locations are so elaborately dressed they are unrecognisable. For that reason, From The Hip Video Production has also included the exact minute these places are featured.

Below you can see a more detailed list of how these locations were used. Had you already detected them or are you surprised by the hidden treasures Hampshire is hiding?

1. Avengers: Age of Ultron
This Marvel blockbuster can attribute a portion of its success to Hawley Woods. The woodland was used to portray the fictitious country ‘Sokovia’.

2. Inception
Who would have thought during filming, we were only a few miles away from Leonardo DiCaprio and Joseph Gordon-Levitt? While the two vacate a plane and walk across the tarmac, this is Farnham Airport.

3. The Da Vinci Code
The film adaptation of Dan Brown’s best-selling novel featured various religious sites throughout. You can easily spot Winchester Cathedral’s exterior, but did you know that the ‘Vatican’ is inside our very own cathedral too?

4. Transformers: The Last Knight
Here in Hampshire, we are lucky to have such a diverse terrain, from forest to monuments, airports to coastlines. Transformers took advantage of our coastline and museums over three days of filming at The Royal Navy Submarine Museum. Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Hopkins and Laura Haddock make their escape in a submarine towards the end of the film with the exterior shots in Hampshire.

5. Quantum of Solace
Daniel Craig’s leading character James Bond is following a lead to Austria. The suave spy would never dream of using a budget airline for the trip. Naturally, he takes his private plane for the mission. This was at Farnborough Airport.

6. World War Z
Brad Pitt defends his family from a hoard of the undead and makes his escape from an apartment block roof on a helicopter. This was shot at Aldershot Barracks, a very different battle than residents are used to.

7. Les Misérables
Did you hear the people sing? A large film crew, a plethora of extras and the leading man Hugh Jackman created the iconic opening scene at Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard. There was a bit of CGI used to ensure historical accuracy as well.

8. Die Another Day
Bond appears to favour Hampshire. In this installment of the franchise, Piers Brosnan smoothly surfs onto the banks of ‘Korea’ and then makes his escape in a helicopter. No need to fly the cast and crew all the way to Asia when you can use the versatile Hawley Woods instead.
