Meet the Winchester resident curing stress, headaches and sleepless nights
Amanada Apps practices Jikiden Reiki and admits that it sounds ‘crazy’ to the initiated. Whatever your opinion of the method, it’s hard to argue with the results when you learn about debilitating symptoms she recently cured for a client.
A few months ago I had a client arrive who was new to Jikiden Reiki, in fact, they had not really tried alternative therapies!
They were happy to give it a try as they had experienced times where they could not concentrate. Their head felt full, very often with a pain inside their head which carried through their ear and jaw and even through the teeth too.
They had a stressful job and they were finding it difficult to sleep and switch down a level during the night. Sometimes the pain around the head and jaw went down the shoulder and arm and so they would not be able to get comfortable in bed at night or they would wake during the night feeling stiff and in pain.
After the initial consultation and once they were comfortable on the couch I placed my hands on their head. Eventually I moved my hands onto the side of their head and onto the side of their face.
After a period of time I began to work on the shoulder and then around the right hip.
‘Hidden’ healing
I cannot describe how I move from one area to another and why I automatically appear to be drawn to an area. Partly it seems to be intuitive and instinctive but mostly it seems to be out of my hands and not even my decision as I do it without even thinking about it. This is no more weird than Jikiden Reiki itself and I am at a loss to describe how or why!
Eventually I completed the treatment with ketsueki kokkan ho, the massage which was originally part of a Reiki treatment in Japan when it was formed.
Sometimes the pain around the head and jaw went down the shoulder and arm and so they would not be able to get comfortable in bed at night or they would wake during the night feeling stiff and in pain.
At the end the client felt very relaxed and the jaw area and head felt different. They described how it felt as though the whole face had changed shape and moved place. They then asked why I had put my hand on the right hip ~ they explained that they always had a pain in that area.
They couldn’t believe that my hand had been right on the spot when they hadn’t even mentioned it during the prior consultation. As the pain was always there they almost were so used to it that they forgot to mention it to me and because it was always there they didn’t even consider that the reiki would be able to do anything about it.
The following day it was reported back that the hip area had no pain at all. Incredibly they had slept solidly for some 12 hours which was unheard of since they had been a young adult. The muzzy head seemed to have disappeared too. Perhaps this was a type of migraine or just a way that stress was relayed through the body? However, even more amazingly, the hip pain has gone and to date has not returned.
As a result there is one happy person who is a convert to the madness of the reiki world.
